Adolescent
Therapy
All teens are faced with challenges, whether from moods, school, peers, their families, or other life areas. Sometimes an adolescent’s distress rises to a level that he or she can benefit from the support of a professional counselor. Meeting with a counselor can prevent minor issues from turning into major problems. Having the support of a professional counselor can help adolescents recover from more serious issues such as eating disorders, self-harm behaviors, thoughts of suicide, substance abuse, or any other area they may be struggling with.
I specialize in working with adolescents to manage behavioral issues. Behavioral issues are complex and the causes are often multi-factorial, and manifest themselves in a variety of ways, including social withdrawal, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, aggression, self-harming, and poor academic performance. Often, parents and other adults assume a child's “acting out” is the result of a lack of discipline when in reality the real issue may lie deeper.
