My Approach
I understand the importance of connection and acknowledge that change is inevitable in life. I believe that we all have the capacity to arrive at our own solutions, yet sometimes, we may need support and guidance. I use a strengths-based, interactive, and direct approach to support my clients in navigating life's transitions and strengthening their connections. My use of humor, coupled with my direct approach, allows my clients to view themselves, and their lives, from a different perspective. I view our therapeutic relationship as a space for you to safely explore your ever-evolving thoughts, values, emotions, and relationships. I work best with clients who are engaged and motivated to learn about themselves.
Getting Help
The reasons that draw us to therapy are endless. Fortunately, whatever life throws at us we have the option to seek help along the way. Therapy provides a safe environment where you can work towards creating the life you desire. My goal as a clinician is to help clients live a rich life full of meaning and purpose. We can't always change or control what has or is happening to us, but we can learn new ways of viewing the situation and coping with it. Refine has origins in the 16th century French word raffiner, meaning ‘improve by making small changes.’ My heart for your experience here is that you leave feeling cared for, seen, heard, and empowered to be the refiner of your own life.
Upon request, I collaborate with clients to integrate a Christian faith perspective into clinical treatment interventions. Christian counseling differs from traditional secular counseling, as it focuses on the care of the whole person (body, soul, and spirit) and maintains the values taught in the Bible. The aim of Christian Counseling is to help people regain a sense of hope for their life that is found in Jesus Christ. Christian counseling uses the science of psychological counseling, while keeping God and Biblical truths in the picture. Psychological practices alone are not used as the absolute answer or solution to problems that people face, rather it is used in unity with Christianity to help people have a deeper understanding of themselves and God. I am committed to providing therapy that is not only clinically sound but also based on Biblical principles.
